The national leadership of Accord urges the people of Osun State to come out en masse and vote for the party’s candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke on the 15th August gubernatorial election for continuation of his rapid development of the state. His laudable achievements in office already guarantee a landslide victory in this crucial poll that will take Osun State to greater heights.
Governor Adeleke is a man of the people, his compassionate and inclusive governance has improved the well-being of residents who yearn, desire and deserve good governance and democratic dividends.
Senator Adeleke’s infrastructural development, provision of social amenities, improved education, healthcare services, security and workers welfare are glaring testaments of his political will and administrative acumen to build a better and greater Osun State residents and future generations will be proud of.
He has accelerated the development of Osun State and deserves a re-election to complete his people-centered projects and deliver more fruits of democracy to citizens. It is remarkable that Governor Adeleke achieved this feat in spite of activities of anti-democratic forces to frustrate his government by withholding billions of naira local government federal allocations which paralyzed this critical third arm of government. It is only a leader with an enormous political sagacity like Adeleke that can easily overcome deliberate attempts to destabilise his government and impoverish the people. He has demonstrated his capacity to govern the state and propel it to a glorious future.
The August 15 governorship election is our chance and opportunity to appreciate Adeleke’s good work and return him to power. He is tested and trusted to pilot the affairs of Osun State for a second term in office.
Osun State is an Accord stronghold. The people are in one accord with Governor Adeleke in fostering political stability, public safety, infrastructural development, social harmony and economic prosperity essential for continuous delivery of dividends of democracy.
Accordingly, Accord urges INEC and security agencies to take their statutory responsibilities seriously by remaining neutral and impartial before, during and after the election.
The sanctity of the ballot box is what gives credibility to an election and bolsters public confidence in the democratic process. Stakeholders must protect and safeguard it in national interest.
Every vote must be counted and counts in the overall result, and the people’s wish, will and mandate respected by all stakeholders.
The party further urges citizens not to mortgage their future for a mess of electoral porridge in whatever form of vote buying or inducements. No serious political party or candidate will indulge in the reprehensible vote trading.
As the ruling party in the state that has fulfilled its previous campaign promises to the people, Accord is cruising to a landslide victory supported by voters who want continuity of Adeleke’s transformative leadership.
Indeed, a greater Osun State is possible on the platform of Accord.
To INEC as the electoral umpire, the Osun governorship poll is a litmus test of its readiness for the 2027 general election. There should be no excuse for poor performance including any form of glitches. The commission should put its act together, adequately test-run its electoral materials to ensure they are in good condition bearing in mind that all eyes are on the commission to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.
The integrity of INEC is at stake. It has another opportunity to redeem its image and justify the confidence Nigerians reposed in it.
Let the Osun governorship poll deepen the nation’s democracy.
